“Will this Cat6 cable be too close to the 120V electrical wiring? I am building a new home and pulling my own network cables. I have been uncertain how close I can run the low voltage (unshielded Cat6 riser cable) to the electrical wiring. I am attaching a photo showing one situation I am in question about. Several Cat6 will be running through the floor joists here. For about 25 feet they will be running parallel and approx. 10 inches away from two 120V electrical cables. They will also intersect”

“How to close up where outdoor light was I had a tree fall down and knock an outdoor light fixture off the wall of my house. I wasn't using the light anyway, so I want to just close up the hole safely. I'm going to cap the wires with wire nuts and tape, but the problem is physically covering the hole. The light was mounted on a shallow round metal junction box. The box is about 3 1/4 inches in diameter. I thought I would just need a weatherproof cover in that size, but I haven't been able to find”

“How should I reframe a wall for an underground feed center conduit electrical box replacement? I'm getting an old Zinsco meter+panel combo with 100A service replaced for insurance reasons, and I'm looking for options for replacing it. I have underground service, so the current box has the service lines coming in from below via a conduit, which, according to PG&E, must connect directly to the new box without any offsets. 3.3.3: The service riser conduit must be vertically straight and cannot cont”

“Is a NEMA 14-50 outlet an acceptable generator inlet? I paid an electrician to install a generator inlet box on the outside of my home. He, however, installed an NEMA 14-50 outlet. Female, 4 prong 50 amp inlet. I noticed this problem immediately when trying to find a cable to plug my generator into it. Nobody sells a male to male cable likely due to UL817 says you shouldn't do that. I would need male to male to connect my generator, obviously, because my generator has a female outlet and he inst”
